For Schools & Libraries
A civic program that runs inside your walls — not one more thing on your plate.
Youth Democracy Works partners with schools, libraries, and youth-serving institutions to embed civic participation directly into the spaces you already run. We bring the curriculum, the structure, and the support. You bring the young people and the trust you've already built with them.
What we provide
A ready-to-run weekly program with plain-language issue briefs and civic tools
Training and ongoing support for students and staff
Paid internships for participating young people
Stipends for faculty and staff sponsors
A real connection between your young people and the decisions shaping their community
What partnership looks like
We grow this program from within your institution — as a lasting part of what you offer, not a one-semester guest. Our founding partnership with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Main branch is the model: a program built collaboratively, embedded in the library's own teen offerings, and designed to endure.
Who we work with
Public and private schools, library branches, and community youth programs across the Pittsburgh region.
